Makita 9227CX3 Excellent polisher.
This tool rocks! Someone bought me it to take some scratches out of a car fender. The fender had some combination of deep and shallow scratches. I left the deep scratches and polished out the light ones, then waxed the whole thing. While not perfect, the repair was darn good considering no painting!
This thing will be a great addition to your tool shed.

I've got about three hours of use on this tool and it is everything I expected from Makita.
It is more quiet than other tools, never lacking for power, has a wide range of speeds and a very gentle soft start.
My only issues are with things other than the tool itself You have to go outside Makita for things other than polishing bonnets and I would have preferred a kit box to the bag. At the very least the bag should have some pockets on the inside (this one does not).
I do a lot of bare metal polishing and the wool bonnets do not work well for that so I purchased some foam pads from other vendors.
This polisher has no problem flat or on an angle.
I have not tried it as a sander.

This Makita polisher is exactly what I expected. Great product at a great price. Light weight compared to some others I've tried yet seems to be plenty powerful. Handy carrying bag is a nice added feature as well.bonus.

This is my first ever rotary, never detailed with a rotary before. All I could say is that I don't really want to try anything else. Start up is very smooth, due to a sensitive trigger, and bunch of other cons you just have to experience to fully appreciate this machine.

I found the Makita 9227C to be an excellent buffer. After struggling with my previous buffer for many years, the Makita with it's adjustible speed made the buffing of my sailboat better and easier. The pads that came with the buffer are another story. The wool pad continually kept throwing off fuzz, even after many uses. I did not use the other pad because I use microfiber polishing cloths with the carnuba wax for final polish.

Makita 9227CX3 Great Polisher.
I just finished buffing and polishing a classic truck. This tool did the trick great. Easy to use, just what you would expect from Makita.
Makita 9227CX3 Gentle Giant.
I just completed using this buffer to compound and glaze the gelcoat on a severly oxidized 30'sailboat. I appreciated plenty of oomph and the constant speed regardless of pressure. The speed adjustment at the thumb and the wrap-around grip were very convenient and I appreciated the ramp up to speed when starting, and the relatively lightweight since I was frequently working off of a ladder and with the buffer over my head.

Makita 9227CX3 Best Buffer Ever.
This is by far the best buffer I've ever used. The adjustable speed ranges are a great asset. After finding the best speed for your needs, the buffer does not bog down when a losd is placed on it. The boat and cars never looked better!
